This is the gorgeous handcrafted artisan Tzedakah Box by the Colorado husband+wife artist team of Susan Garson and Tom Pakele. They create contemporary ceramics decorated with religious and symbolic images. This piece portrays the lion and the dove (the fierce one and the peacemaker) in cooperation and at rest together in the supposed Garden of Eden. A bit whimsical and wonderfully representative of the value of strength and cooperation within the Jewish tradition.This piece is long ago retired from their Judaica collection. It was purchased from an art gallery several years ago and has been properly stored away out of daylight in a Smoke-free and Pet-free home, never used, never displayed. This is a special piece worthy of passing on to the next generation and a wonderful choice as a significant gift at marriage, bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah.Garson & Pakele\'s work is highly collectible and can be seen in the National Museum of American Jewish History. It is also featured in the book, \"Judaica\" by Myra Yellin Outwater. Their work can be found throughout North America in many fine contemporary craft galleries. It is approximately 9\" tall x 8.5\" wide and 5\" deep. The money slot is approx 2\" wide. There is a rubber stopper in the bottom.
