Shown for your consideration is this wonderful Lladro figurine from 1988 of a mother and child with a cute little jealous dog at their heels. It is titled, \"Jealous Friend\", and was retired in 1995. This piece is pre-owned, comes from an estate sale, but is in excellent condition. I see no issues at all. It is from Spain and stands approximately 12 1/2\" tall. If you look at the photos, this is hallmarked with the Lladro stamp and is numbered 2187, and marked on the bottom. You will hear a slight jingling noise if you shake it a little, this is common. It is from the manufacturing process.My Lladró has a hole in the bottom and rattles. Is it broken?
What you describe is not a defect and is quite common with all fine porcelain. Many pieces have a \"breathing hole\" in the base to allow steam to escape during the firing process. The process of \"punching\" this hole in the base before firing displaces a tiny plug of porcelain to the inside of the hollow figurine; that tiny porcelain bit hardens with firing, causing the distinctive rattle.
