This is a very exciting LOT of 2 Antique STERLING SILVER Vinaigrettes! One is Large (which might have been for a Man or Woman), and one is Small (which looks appropriate for a lady).
You will get the exact 2 Vinaigrettes you see in the photos!
1) Large Vinaigrette with a different pattern on each side. The top has a fancy scroll thick somewhat repousse design, and the bottom has a simple etched design. The top is slightly larger and slanted forward making it easier to open the box. Once opened, the grill is STUNNING! It is a gilt gold and looks somewhat like a sunburst pattern with scroll designs around. It is fully hallmarked with a LION (for 925 STERLING SILVER), and Anchor meaning it was made in Birmingham, England. Other hallmarks indicate it was made somewhere between 1825-1830.The overall condition is very good with appropriate minor wear, and wear on the inside. There are no major issues other than it is not perfectly straight (as is common with pieces that were handmade by skilled silversmiths in the 1800\'s). The box and grill open and close well.The box is 1.76\" wide x 1.25\" wide, and 0.45\" thick. This is a much larger box than most you will normally see. It has a nice weight to it.
2) Small Vinaigrette made for a lady. It is in very good condition with NO dents and only minimal wear, and some wear inside. The box is nice and straight. The outside has a nice design. Once opened, the inside is a shiny gilt gold with a fine grill.It is fully hallmarked with aLION (for 925 STERLING SILVER), and Anchor meaning it was made in Birmingham, England. Other hallmarks indicate it was made sometime in the 1800\'s.The box and grill open and close well. It measures 0.76\" wide x 0.6\" wide, and 0.3\" thick.
