I\'m downsizing and selling a great lot of antique and vintage children\'s books I\'ve had in my (non-smoking and humidity-controlled) library for years. I\'ve decided to sell them individually (or in small groups), as many of these titles are rare and collectible. I love old children\'s books for the charm of the illustrations and oftentimes obscure stories which are long out-of-print.
This sale is for a lot of antique and vintage books with an Easter theme:
- THE Easter BOOK OF LEGENDS AND STORIES
This book is ex-library with the usual markings: school stamps, lending card jacket, spine label, etc., but it was only checked out twice in 1991, and is in very good condition with just a few stray pencil marks as far as I could see. The dust-jacket is protected in a plastic sleeve and glued to the inside covers. The book runs 392 pages and has just about everything anyone would want to read about Easter, but I know I\'ll never get around to it, so hopefully it will go to someone who would appreciate it. :)
- PETER RABBIT
Wonderful oversized antique children\'s softcover book of the famed story. It is 100 years old, and was probably never meant to last, but it\'s been loved all these years, as can be seen by the hand-sewn binding. I\'ve come across a few books over the years which have been restored in such a way, and it was almost always done way back when, by someone using their clothing skills to save a book for the children, so a lot of care went into something we would never do these days, preferring instead to throw books away and buy new ones.
It measures 15\" tall by 8\" wide and has heavyier, glossy-type paper covers (not quite cardboard), with lesser quality pages, though a few of those also have full color illustrations. There are 14 pages if you count the inside of the covers, and of those, 4 pages are in color.
There is, to be expected, heavy handling wear, with creases and chipping to the corners. A former owner has written their name/address on the last page before the back cover; and there are spots of soiling/finger-smudges throughout, though the book is still remarkably intact.
Hopefully someone will appreciate the age and rarity of this antique children\'s book and want to conserve and display it. :)

Fair condition ex-school book with a stamp from 1967; a spine label; some light handling wear; a short tear; and edgewear/fraying to the still attractive cover.
- PAAS FARMYARD FRIENDS COLORING BOOK
Unused, with a crease to the back cover.
It\'s been fun putting this lot together, and I think someone who collects Easter items will be happy with it. I normally list in Antiquarian Books...but felt listing here might find the appropriate collector.
