Wood type: unknown but definately a Hard wood.
First picture is from my daughters wedding - a sample of the actual wood slices in these listings.
These were cut from a newly fallen tree in the woods of Coastal Carolina. We used them for my daughter\'s rustic wedding and they were beautiful. These 4 pieces measure out to approximately 13\"x13\" to 14\"x14\" and are 1.25\"-2\" thick. The largest is great for a cake platter or head table. These are rustic: they have not been planed or sanded or sealed, etc. They have dried slowly and beautifully with natural cracks, worm holes, imperfections from saw blade - that only added to the rustic feel of the wedding. After the wedding I have noticed a couple have bowed. I have fixed those by simply turning them over and weighing them down for a few days. If it happens again or to others, you can do the same or use them as is, adding to their rustic nature, because even with a bow or saw mark, all the centerpieces sat perfectly on these slices. There are pictures of top and bottom of every slice, PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY, I want you to be happy with purchase!
We also have 5\" rounds that were made to use as picture holders of the bride and groom (table 1=a picture of each of them at age 1, table 2=age 2, etc). I have 12 - 5\" rounds from same tree-if interested see my other listings for these 5\" rounds.
This listing will have to be shippedFed Exwith 4 to a box. I have this listed in 5 seperate listings each set very different with 4 for a total of 20 slices available. 4 slices are aprox34 lbs give or take. I reserve the right to split shipment due to sizes/sturdiness of boxes available or any other reason. Once charged a quoted shipping $, that will not change even if i do split up shipments.
Due to the weight of this wood I cannot combine shipping to save money, I can\'t put more than 4 or 5 total slices in one box because I do not want the box to break.
All wood slices I have for sale are from the same tree!!
We have done the hard part by cutting them and because these are raw, not sealed, you can stain them if you dont like the natural color. You can seal them and plane them to make them look more \"perfect\". For a rustic wedding, we wanted \"IMPERFECTION\" and it was great!INHERENT ISSUES WITH REAL WOOD:
breaking of bark
Bug holes
Some bugs. (I have checked these every day to make sure that isnt happening, so far so good!)
Dust from natural aging
