This sale is for a lot of 6 very rare (one-of-a-kind) World War II telegrams that tell a story of a relative by marriage who was wounded and captured during the war. These GENUINE AND ORIGINAL telegrams show that between the end of 1944 and the end of 1945 that this young soldier was missing in action, then found and hospitalized, sent to a state-side hospital, and ultimately reunited with his parents. During the time after his capture by the Germans, he was a POW held in a German hospital for several months. He said that when the bombing got near, the medical personnel would go to the basement, but the patients remained above. One bomb got so close, he recounted, that his hospital bed actually jumped from the floor several inches!
Since this gentleman had no living blood relatives - which he told me on more than one occasion - we want to get these into the collection of someone who will appreciate them. Sadly, so many items like this have been lost over the years. The six documents you are offerding on are in typical condition for telegrams this old; fragile and yellowed.
