Lot of Late 1700s Dublin John Heaney Pewter Plates 18th Century Irish Chargers:
$289.99

Up for offer is a lot of nine pewter plates (of which, only one is of an unknown maker). Eight of them are rare pewter plates/chargers by famous and prolific Dublin pewterer, John Heaney (in business from 1767-1807). John Heaney was free of the Dublin Smith\'s Company in 1765 and is last mentioned in the trade directories in 1807. For much of his career, he was located on the Ormond Quay in Dublin.
All nine of the pewter plates are marked with \"I C\" (possibly the initials of the owner?) and the crowned \"X\" mark which was a mark of quality in the 18th century. The eight John Heaney pewter plates also all bear faint but identifiable John Heaney touch marks / makers marks.
The last listed photos is of the marks on the unknown pewter plate. I had this pewter plate tested with an XRF analyzer and it showed high levels of lead content (which indicates that it\'s centuries old as well).
The eight Heaney plates are about 9.5 inches in diameter and the one unknown plate is about 9 inches in diameter.
Please see the listed photos for details and judge the items and their conditions for yourself.
