Get Vendio Gallery - Now FREE!A very unusual example of theMediterranean region Vendetta dagger dating from the 1700s era and having a fabulous leafed shape blade of traditional form with a vicious tip and lovely open work and engraved decorations, middle one inserted with a brass element the purpose of which still remains a mystery to me, the other ones in the very specific heart shapes are absolutely lovely and very early in style. The unique feature of this particular example is the locking spring at the spine forte, very untypical of such daggers and actually first time encountered by me although i have handled and sold a fare share of such daggers over the years, this spring would probably serve for the locking the blade in to the scabbard and releasing it out by pressing on it, although the exact configuration of the locking mechanism is not completely clear, nevertheless this device appears to be completely original and was built with the dagger from the beginning. The traditional style grip is very detailed and multi elemental with carved bull bone and pierced brass details, all undamaged and fully intact except for the pommel crown which has a slightest play.
