Lovely Victorian Solid Silver Cup 181g Hallmarked George Fox 1860-61:

A good quality heavy solid silver cup, fully hallmarked for London 1860-61, makers mark GF - George Fox, member of renowned Fox family silversmiths.

This cup was a given to a member of my family as a christening cup and is believed that the plaque and engraving of the name Roy was added later.

The cup has super detail which is displayed with roses, thistles and shamrock clovers. Looks to be gilded on inside of the cup, with some marking to the bottom.

Detail to the base and also beading at the top, with a nice clear set of hallmarks and some crude engraving/numbers on the base.

I have cleaned the cup, as it was quite black but i havent over polished it, the are several small dings to the outer most detail as can be seen in the pics but these do not really affect the overall appearance. The plaque is very thick and therefore the engraving could easily be polished out if wanting to do so or the plaque could possibly be removed by a jeweller or silversmith.

Approx height, 95mm and weight 181g.
