From our personal extensive BULOVA collection, please accept my apologies for any reflections in the pictures.
For your consideration I offerfor sale this splendid men vintage men’s BULOVA ‘President’ model wristwatchdating from1928.
The Bulovasigned CASE isfinished in 14k Gold Fill as confirmed on the inside of the case back alongwith the signature, the 1927 patent date, the legend ‘American Standard’ andthe serial number 8404692, the rectangular shaped case measures approx. 24mmexcluding the crown and 36mm lug tip to tip. The case bezel is detailed to allsides of the crystal set in the unique design of the ‘President’ model and aswell as the multiple signatures the case sides are detailed with the BulovaHallmark design. The separate case back has some wear to one corner butotherwise is clean off any engravings and snaps shut securely.
The signed DIAL is finished in whiteand is furnished with original filled ‘Radium’ style numeral hour markers, ablack inner minute track with sub seconds dial at the 6 point and the signaturebelow the 12. The hour and minute hands are in the ‘Cathedral’ style and stillretain some of their original radium infill, these are accompanied by a giltsweeping action seconds hand.
The signed MOVEMENT is a calibre9an mechanical hand winding unit currently running fine on its 17 jewels, itwinds and set6s correctly and is stamped with the date code symbol for 1927 andthe serial number 318505.
The CRYSTAL does show somefine micro scratches more obvious when viewed away from the dial.
The attached BAND is an embossed browngenuine leather strap with a maximum fit length of 8.25 inches.
Wristwatches of this vintage provide an investmentopportunity in these days of low interest rates as well as providing an articleof jewellery that is sure to gain admiring glances. As a collectors timepieceit will surely appreciate in value if kept in its current health.
It isalso worth noting that some watch case dates and movement dates are not thesame, the reason for such discrepancies is that cases and movements were madein batches for use as and when unlike the auto industry where parts are made‘just in time’.
