Truly a kingly blade, this exceptional Katar is from 18th Century Rajasthan.TheKoftgaridesigns are beautiful and opulent, perfect for a noble person of highest rank. They are executed in three colors of gold, a very rare and difficult technique.In the midst of swirling waves, red gold lotuses contrast with yellow gold parasols, an emblem of royalty.This was a weapon to be carried on very formal occasions, but that does not inthe least detract from its functionality.The blade, made of fine-grained Indian Wootz, a crucible steel of legendary quality, is ofclassic design, and has a massive diamond-shaped point capable of piercing mail and light plate armor.Picture number seven shows the detail of the extremely beautiful wootz; this very rare Crystalline Indian steel, the finest of its kindliterallyfor millennia, stopped being produced in the 18th Century when less expensive English steel started being exported from England in large quantities. ATTENTION; This is NOT one of the recently made Indian copies of historical weapons, but a MUSEUM-GRADE ANTIQUE.The scabbard is probably a later addition.
