All Ways Are...Curious!
Concept Art by Disney Legend
Mary Blair!

4 1/2\" x 6\"....The Walt Disney Gallery Stores....2001

In 2001, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney\'s 1951 classic Alice in Wonderland, the short-lived Walt Disney Gallery Stores released an array of collectible merchandise inspired by Lewis Carroll\'s famous characters. Included was a series of note cards featuring the conceptual the work of brilliant illustrator and color stylist Mary Blair.

This notecard, called The Tulgey Wood, is one of the many paintings done by Mary Blair for Alice in Wonderland. In this piece, Alice is literally at a crossroads. How can she choose which way to go next when she does not really know where she is going in the first place? The many confusing signposts are of no help, nor will the Cheshire Cat, soon to be encountered within the Tulgey Wood, be either.

Walt Disney loved Mary Blair\'s art, and she was a major force in color use and design at Disney through her work in the 1940\'s and early 50\'s on The Three Caballeros, Song of the South, Melody Time, Cinderella and Peter Pan. After leaving the Walt Disney Studios in the early 1950\'s, she worked as an independent artist on the east coat. She returned to Disney in 1963 at the personal request of her former boss, supervising the overall design for It\'s A Small World at the 1964 New York World\'s Fair (and eventually Disneyland).

Mary Blair continues to attract and inspire today; a beautiful coffee table book celebrating The Art and Flair of Mary Blair has been written by animation historian John Canemaker, and exhibits celebrating her work have been held at the motion Picture Academy, in Japan and The Walt Disney Family Museum.

This vibrantly colorful note card is like new, and comes with its original white envelope. Perfect for framing!
