As an Apollo 11 astronaut, part of the first mission ever to land humans on another celestial body, Michael Collins\' place in history is assured.

Published in 1974, Carrying the Fire is widely regarded as the finest account ever written of the experience of spaceflight.

This copy is a 2nd printing of the first edition, and it has been signed by Mike Collins on the front endpaper and also personally inscribed. The signature has been professionally authenticated by PSA/DNA and comes with a full letter of authenticity. Michael signed this book at the Smithsonian Institution while he served as Director and I purchased this book from the son of the inscribee who was present at the time.

Condition is excellent! The text is clean and bright and beautiful, but there is a very small spot (foxing?) on the front endpaper (see my photo) and some pages toward the rear are crimped a bit on one corner. There\'s only very mild wear on the hardcover boards. The dust jacket retains its original price; there\'s mild wear along the lower edge but the cover image still looks terrific and I will add new archival mylar to keep it that way.

Mike will turn 85 years old in October of 2015.
