MINIATURE SILVER ICON RUSSIAN ORTHODOX OIL PAINTING PRAYER MOSCOW ANTIQUE:

This is for a fabulous little antique miniature silver Russian Orthodox icon from i would guess the mid to late 1800s.The underlying miniature oil paintingshows the face of christ and it is extremely well painted in fabulous clear detail. The painting is overlaid in silver which is embossed to make the clothing and the halo behind the head has the letters TW, O and H engraved around it. The silvercarries the Russian 84 silver hallmark along with an assay and makers mark that looks like rc, this is stamped on the outer edge of the icon. The silver is mounted onto a velvet backing and has a littleloop at the top for hanging.It is invery goodcondition for its age with a nice look to it and it displays beautifully. It measures 45mm (1.75\") x 39mm (1.5\").
