BEAUTIFUL QUALITY ANTIQUE KURDISH MOUNTAIN TRIBES BAG FACE, NW Persia, last quarter of the 19th century, and coming in excellent, near-mint, original full pile condition for the collector. The exact size is: 18\" x 19\" (46 x 48 cm). A truly tribal antique khorjin (saddlebag) facing from the Kurdish mountain-dwelling clans of NW Persia during the 19th century. This lovely antique weaving has a symmetric knot structure on natural shades of mixed wool and goat hair. The wefts are wool, with areas having either natural ivory wool or natural brown wool and areas with the wool dyed red and blue. The dyes are all natural dyes and derived from plant sources. The bag face has splendid, silky-to-the-touch, wool quality, like running your fingers through a basket fullof poodle puppies. Thick, mountain tribal, \"animal pelt\"pile condition giving it a hefty, chunky, handle to it in the hand, yet so soft and supple. Side over-castings are original on both sides. Ends are sewn back secure to prevent any future loss of structure. A tactile textile if there ever was one. Professionally hand cleaned and collection ready.
