• • Born in New York City, Molly Picon [28 February 1898 — 6 April 1992] was an actress of stage, screen and TV as well as a lyricist.
• • She was first and foremost a star in Yiddish theatre and film but — — as Yiddish theatre faded — — she began to perform in English-language productions.
• • At age 6, Molly\'s career began in the Yiddish Theatre. In 1912, she debuted at Arch Street Theatre (NYC) and became a star of the Second Avenue Yiddish stage. • • • • • • • ALEXIS K. GARD • • • • • • • •• • Born in Russia, Alex Gard [1900 — 1 June 1948] was a cartoonist/ illustrator who specialized in vaudevillians and theatre folk. Alex Gard contributed weekly drawings to the drama section of New York Herald Tribune. In the 1920s, Gard was hired to do caricatures of Broadway notables and celebrities for Sardi\'s Restaurant in the Times Square area of New York City.
