Description : A pair of monumental South Indian 19th Century corbel brackets depicting mythical composite beasts, Yalior Vyalawith the body of a lion and trunks of elephant. The corbels were originally polychrome painted but as you can see the paint has worn over the years. The trunk is linked to tailof lower beast. This is a rare and beautifully carved hugepair of corbels!

Size :One measuring 6\' 5\" x 33\" deep x 14\" wide at base. the other measuring 6\' 6\" x 33\" deep x 14\" wide at base.

Age : 19th Century

Condition : Remnants of polychrome paint can be seen. Old repairs can be seen, age cracks and chips. Losses to birds head on the front. The bases with minor surfacewater damage from being in the elements. Photos show all, these are amazing corbels and areextremely rare in this size.
