MORRIS, F.O: A History of British Birds & A Natural History of the Nests and Eggs of British Birds. Finely Bound. London: Groombridge and Sons, 1862 -

The History of British Birds (variously dated 1862-1864) in six volumes. With 358 hand-coloured plates with tissue guards. The Natural History of Nests & Eggs (variously dated 1863-64) in three volumes. With 225 hand-coloured plates with tissue guards. The nine volumes uniformly bound in contemporary most attractive polished green morocco, the sides with wide and elaborate gilt border, spines gilt in compartments within raised bands, inner gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, bound in silk bookmarks; the bindings most likely by Savory of Cirencester although unsigned.Some foxing to frontispieces, the plates however bright and generally free from foxing. The bindings are rubbed at headbands, joints and corners and on raised bands; however this is a finely bound set and very attractive on the shelf. All inner joints tight.
