Piece is marked with an embossed N, surrounded by the C. I looked it up, there\'s what I found: I came across an article that says that N inside the C was developed by Newcomb Pottery in 1894 and used until the 1899. This simply refers to the name of the college.

This was a pottery made mostly by craftswomen although some craftsmen have also contributed their share. Hence there are more than 100 variations of the mark used.

Regardless of it\'s origins, it\'s very ornate and hand painted. Beautiful colors - violet, pink, green, and cream colors. Gold grapes and gold trimmings. It depicts a young boy (servant most likely) picking grapes.

Beautiful piece. It may be a vase, but there has never been dirt in it, It could be a beautiful piece by itself.

Because I don\'t know the actual origination of this piece, the price is set lower than if I would know the artist.
