Maeterlinck\'s The Children\'s Blue Bird by Georgette Leblanc (Madame Maurice Maeterlinck); illustrated by Doris and Marion Henderson; published by Grosset & Dunlap; copyright 1939. It is a cloth hardcover book with pastedown coverings, 9\" x 7 1/4\", unpaginated but there are about 54 pages, full of wonderful mainly color illustrations. It is a sweet fairy tale with a moral of happiness in giving, the illustrations are really beautiful. The book is basically just a reading copy that has seen its best days, yet there still ismuch charm left to it. The cloth on the spine has alot of wear and the edges show wear, the front pastedown is quite nice, a couple of creases in it but basically it is intact and very pretty. The back pastedown was solid color and it is very worn and also has moisture staining, not an attractive cover. The interior is not too bad, the block is a bit wobbly but the binding seems good, the pages are nice, the back endpaper again shows some moisture and is a bit ragged. Even though its condition is not the best, it is intact, very readable and still charming with its wonderful illustrations.
