Pope Julius II is considered to have been a prominentpatron of the arts. Transforming Rome into the cultural center of theRenaissance, Pope Julius II supported renowned artist such as Michelangelo andRaphael. Likewise, he commissioned frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. The pen wascrafted in France of precious creme-colored resin and 18-karat gold-platedmetal.
