Thislot of documents includes a large postmaster appointment for William H.Guernsey, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, signed by Montgomery Blair,Postmaster General in Abraham Lincoln’s administration from March 5,1861-September 24, 1864. The certificateis signed “M Blair,”dated July 12, 1861, measures approximately 13” x16” and is in Very Good condition.

Alsoincluded: a letter from the Post Office Department Appointment Office, signedby the First Assistant Postmaster General, John Kasson, setting forth therequirements for the appointment; a handwritten copy of the bond that wasrequired to be posted; the transmittal letter for the appointment; and an unrelatedinsurance certificate for Guernsey dated March 1863.
