Measurements: With Frame 18 High x 19 inches LongMorton Garchik was born in Brooklyn in 1929. His Art training which began at the art school of the Brooklyn Museum in 1948 was interrupted for military service in 1950. Upon discharge in 1952 he resumed studies at the School of Visual Arts, New York, where he won first prize in drawing (1955) and second prize in illustration (1956). Mr Garchik\'s woodcuts have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the continental United States and Honolulu. He has had two One-man shows in New York, one in Chicago and one in Toronto, Canada. In recent years he ha illustrated many books and some of his prints have appeared in national magazines, notably Harper. In 1965 his work won the Olivet College Print Collection Purchase Award.Group exhibitions in which the artist has participated include the 38th Northwest Printmakers International held at both th Seattle Art Museum and the Portland Art Museum; the 1966 Ohio University National; and thr 1966 and 1967 Springfield College National.
