A true Work of Art, having very fine chiseled and pierced steel mounts with mercury gold embellishmentagainst exceptionally rare Blued steel background. Grip of very fine braided copper wire with gilded brass band borders having chased foliage. Mounted with a fabulous quality large blade of triangular section, retaining most of its bright blued and gilt panels for one third of its length depicting Flag and arms panoplies, floral scrolls and lovely portrait of the woman holding a sword in one hand. Touch of pitting to the blued area and very light wear, the rest with nice gray patina to the overall steel color finish. Mostly solid with slight play to the kidney shape guard and brass bands on the ends of the grip, the rest of the mounts are intact with the blade. Comes with its original animal hidescabbard having one repair about 6\" from the original undecoratedsteel tip, the throat mount is pierced chiseled blued and mercury gold decorated en suite with the rest of the sword furniture, the middle suspension fitting is probably lacking. Amazing and exceptionally rare State of the Art quality example, worthy of any most advanced collection of rapiers or18th century weapons, Don\'t miss it !
