Wow! This really CUTE! A musical figurine of a boy and a dog. He is reading a book and the dog is listening. The book is open on a table the boy is seated at and dog is seated on the floor. The statue is 7 inches tall and 4 inches round.
The whole thing is hand-painted ceramic in 2 pieces, the top with all the figures and the bottom that looks like a carved piece of wood. The music is a wind up mechanism made by turning the bottom against the top. Setting it down one hears the lovely \"Beautiful Dreamer\" which then plays until it winds down.
By unscrewing one reads \"1976 Christmas from Shea\" (40 years old!) and a JAPAN sticker on the inside. The outside looks like a European item, a Hummel or other such figure, so don\'t know if just the music box is Japanese or all of it. It is lovely anyway! Excellent Condition.
