Being offered is a nice old antique Filipino dagger from the late 19th century. This knife measures 21\" in total length. The handle is interesting. There is a detailed carved mouth and nose but the top half of the monster head is missing. Was it carved this way? Did the top half break off? But how? The top of the handle is not worn smooth like the grip area and was obviously never carved but I don\'t see any evidence that it was broken or cut off. So a bit of a mystery here. The grip is nicely carved. Very nice brass ferrule and guard. The blade has very fine floral carving on both sides of the blade. The blade finishes in a clipped point like a Bowie knife. The blade is very sharp. There is a collection label on the blade. A nice knife with a mystery on the handle. Please e-mail with any questions.
