NICE SMALL 18TH C. WROUGHT IRON 4-ARM CANDLE LIGHTING DEVICE CHANDELIER. AAFA!
Offered today is a Wonderful late 18th-early 19th century wrought iron lighting device with 4 candle sockets. Measuring a nice small 8\" diameter x 18\" high. The central shaft is decorated with two areas of rope twist design, and the hanging end has a nice rat-tail hook. Candle cups are rolled iron and tapered with bottom end being open for access to remove burnt candle stubs. Originally would have hung from a small ratchet trammel to raise and lower as needed. Would have been used in a room were additional light was needed, more than a single candlestick would have produced. Former collection or museum number is present on one side arm. A wonderful example of early American lighting. Worthy of any collection of Don\'t miss this opportunity to add to any fine collection of Americana or Folk Art !
