This is a spectacular and rare Navajo medicine man’snecklace which dates to the 1870’s (possibly older!)
***THIS IS ARARE, AUTHENTIC & ANTIQUE SPECIMEN…..IT’S NOTA VINTAGE NECKLACE LIKE THE MAJORITY OF SQUASH BLOSSOM TYPE NECKLACES WHICHDATE TO THE 1950’s/60’s…IT EVEN PREDATES THE OLDER SQUASH BLOSSOM NECKLACESFROM THE LATE 19TH CENTURY!
Beautifully constructed with natural turquoise, malachite, solderedsilver beads, bear claws and bear bones.
****UNLIKE ITS LATER COUNTERPARTS WHERE THE TURQUOISES WEREINLAID/SET INTO SILVER…..THE OLDER SPECIMEN’S TURQUOISES ARE FREE (like thisspecimen)…..ALSO, THE NECKLACE IS SINEW…AND.. A SMALL CORD OF SINEW WITHORGANIC SAP/GLUE WAS USED TO ATTACH AND SECURE THE SMALLER TURQUOISE TO THEMALACHITE PENDANT!.....NATURALLY OCCURING DEPOSITS OF MALACHITE , LIKETURQUOISE, ARE FOUND IN THE SOUTH WESTERN REGIONS OF THE UNITED STATES.
