Acarte de visitesized photograph of an officer of the Royal Navy. The description to rear states: Thos. H. Hayman, Nav. Lieut., H.M.S. Zealous. Return from 6 years Pacific Station 1873 Madeira.Thomas Henry Haymanentered the Royal Navy in 1863 and was the Navigating Lieutenanton H.M.S. Salamander which was engaged on survey workoff Queensland, Australia. Several physical features in the area were named after officers on this vessel, Hayman getting anisland! He transferred to the Royal Oak in 1868, promoted to Staff Commander in 1873 and retired in 1877. By Le Jeuneof Naples, Italy. (YF).
