You areofferding on a 1950\'s Chein tin Mechanical Uncle Wiggly bank. The J. CheinCompany was founded in 1903 by Julius Chein and was located in a loft in New York City, soon to move to Harrison NJin 1907. Ultimately the company settled in Burlington NJin 1947 where the plant is located today, it now makes house wares. Chein isfamous for it’s brightly lithographed tin banks and toys, which it produced upuntil 1977. Its in great condition with only a few rubs & scratches. Has99%+ of the original paint, still shiny new finish. This is a neat bank, youput the coin in the back & the coin rolls into the bank and Uncle raiseshis carrot to you! This bank isin near mint-from my personal collection, condition with no cracks, chips, breaks, repairs of any kind. Thesurface finish is 100% original - it has never been restored, repainted,touched up or altered in any way. 2 1/2” round x 5”. Listed in Tom Stoddardbank collection sale book, pg44, #895 in a grouping with the clown, monkey& elephant banks, which sold for $660 in 2001. The greatest portion of themoney was paid for the Uncle Wiggly. You see lots of clowns, elephants andmonkeys on but not Uncle frequently, especially in this condition!!
