ABSOLUTELY A MUSEUM QUALITY JEWEL IN MAGNIFICENT CONDITION DATING TO C1870!Here is an absolutely breathtaking antique Victorian necklace pendant of the highest quality. The gold setting is superb! It has flower and leaf form motifs with 3 dimensional flowers and stamens. These alternate with 8 flower motifs set with stunning natural emerald cut early antique emeralds of very fine color!!! These emeralds total approximately 2 Cts. The central oval is of hardstone chalcedony. It is set with a stunning floral motif with emeralds and beautiful fine red rubies composing the flowers. This is beautifully done! There are a total of approximately 2.45 Ct of emeralds in the jewel. The gold tests for 14-16K, most likely 16K. The gold is a gorgeous rosey warm hue. It has a beautifully balanced design. The quality of the workmanship is the very very best, with gorgeous natural mined gems, magnificent gold work and wonderful age! The jewel dates to the Victorian period, c1860-1880. Finding natural untreated emeralds and rubies is very rare. These antique untreated natural gems are rare and fine! The overall design quality and impact of this pendant is the very best. It is suitable for the fine antique jewelry collections in the Victoria and Albert museum in London or the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The jewel is in wonderful period condition. Please look at the photos for a good indication of condition. One of the emeralds at 9 o\'clock has a small chip. The pendant may have been converted from a brooch at one time. The pendant is 47 mm (1 7/8 inches) tall not including the bales and 40 mm (1 5/8 inches) wide. The pendant tests for 14-16K gold. It weighs 15.2 grams.
