As most pens today, including Parker, Waterman and Sheaffer, this pen originated in the Orient, either China or Japan, where the art of fine pen manufacturing has truly been mastered. I couldn’t say this ten years ago when I first started collecting pens. I regarded the oriental pens as scratchy writers and often not sturdy enough to last. Our friend travels there annually to seek out the quality and/or beautiful fountain pens. We have been more than pleasantly surprised with what he brought home the last few years. We use the pens and so do our friends. A few friends think some of them are so elegant that they display them at home or in their offices in prominent places, just for the beauty of the art of the instrument.
