This pincushion is one of a group I recently aquired from a lady in Ipswich, Ma. She has been collecting small, early sewing items for many years and decided to part with a few.I will be listing them over the next few days.

This early example is in as found condition. It has a round shape made up of 11 separate cushions each sewn together with a feather type stitch and then tacked together on the ends to form a ball.The most interesting part of this pincushion is the little note in old handwriting with a short provenance. On the spot where the note is tacked I think a cushion is missing,also the material is worn thin in a couple of small spots.It measures 4 inches in diameter.
