Offered is an overall excellent condition original signed in period ink Civil War bible from Henry B. Hendrickson who served in the 28th New Jersey Infanty Regiment. The 28th was a 9 month regiment that saw action at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. Nicely Signed \"Henry B. Hendrickson\" on the front fly leaf. Very little wear to the bible. This bible came from a Woodbury, New Jersey estate long ago. The 28th Regiment, in part, comprised of soldiers from Gloucester County, New Jersey. Henry B. Hendrickson is buried in Eglinton Cemetery, Clarksboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey which is near Woodbury. The bible measures 4 1/2 by 3 inches and was printed in 1862 by the American Bible Society. Gilted edges. This style of New Testament bible was widely distributed to the soldiers.
