"Yam Mask"

Nice older New Guinea yam mask, Abelam or Bukie culture, small helmet style found around Ulupu village--which is just east of the Abelam area. This one is missing one ear but otherwise in excellent shape. Good old legitimate yam mask used in the ritually-grown long yams to turn them into the ancestral spirits that were responsible for the yam\'s stupendous growth.
