I am moving from North America to the Caribbean Islands and I am unable to take all of my beautiful antiques collections with me and therefore I am saleing this Vintage Mother of Pearl & Gold Plate Dip Pen w Esterbrook 182 Lady Falcon Nib.
This is a fabulous antique collectable!!
This Dip Pen consists of a Pen Holder that has a 102mm Mother of Pearl Handle section that is in very good condition, a nicely intricately design grip section made of Gold Plate that is also in good condition, and measures 38mm. I have included a R. Esterbrook 182 Lady Falcon Nib.
The Esterbrook 182 Lady Falcon Lady are a smaller version of the Falcon Shape. They have a very sharp tip with an oval vent hole with a bronze finish.This pen was widely marketed to women of the period as a special pen for them to use in their correspondence. It was also marketed to women\'s occupations, such as stenographers and like all Falcons it is a good writing Nib. Esterbrook has a healthy love affair with the Falcon Point style of pen. R. Esterbrook used it into their advertisements and all other aspects of their business. Over the years adjustments have been made to the Falcon Nib. Finally, they changed its size. The #182 Lady Falcon is the smaller sister to the #048 Falcon Nib. This Nib is small and demure with a fine point and semi-flexible action. Its purpose was split between standard correspondence and phonetic writing such as those found in court reporting or shorthand. From a modern standpoint it makes an exceptional all-around pen. Capable of flourished scripts as well as fantastic artistic applications for inking. It’s a most wonderful companion to the #048 Falcon Pen. This isn’t a common nib! This version came from 1926. If you’ve had the opportunity to use a #048 Falcon and enjoyed it, you owe it to yourself to acquire it’s next of kin! Even if you haven’t tried the #048 Falcon Pen, you shouldn’t ignore your opportunity to try a new adventure in expression with the #182 Lady Falcon!
This Mother of Pearl Dip Pen comes in a double latch box that is stamped on the inside with LEROY W. FAIRCHILD in gold lettering. The total weight of the Dip Pen, Nib and original box is 16.4g or 0.603oz. not including shipping materials.
