Mary Capehart of Scotch Grove Plantation, Bertie County, NC attended St Mary\'s Episcopal School in Raleigh along with other refugees from VA, SC & NC including members of the Davis & Lee families. An original Autograph Album with over 40 entries ink inscribed to her at St Mary\'s, from class mates & family incl 2 CS officers, both kin- cousin James B Martin, signed with his military rank, 26th Louisiana, & \"Hon John Sutton\" to his cousin Mary, (3rd NC Artillery he defended Fort Fisher & was taken when the Fort fell) also other Scotch Grove kin, various girls from Petersburg , Richmond, Virginia, & North Carolina & South Carolina, one inscribed simply \"Nellie a Refugee from Va\", also girls named Mosby, Venable, Eppes, Collins, Capeharts, a signed original variant \" Dying Soldier\" poem about Manassas, 1861 , etc, most date 1861-63, also illus engravings. Also marriage & death records, and a list of schools Mary attended 1861-65 incl Mre Pegrams, Richmond (John & Willie Pegram\'s mother), St Mary\'s, Raleigh, a school in Georgia in 1865 & finally at home at Scotch Hill, NC in 1866. A few signatures removed, age stains,the rest of the signatures and inscriptions are Overall VG. The Album is missing it\'s front cover & binding loose but complete except as noted, the rear leather cover is attached and good, the album is Overall Good.
