This Superb Vintage Norwegian Salt or Sauce Dish measures approximately 3 3/8 inches or 86 mm in length from end to end by 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm across its width from side to side and it stands just under 1 3/4 inches or 44 mm tall.

The Spoon measures approximately 2 1/2 inches or 63 mm across its length from the top of its handle to the front rim of its bowl by just over 3/8 of an inch or 10 mm across the widest part of its upper handle from side to side and it is 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm across the widest part of its bowl.

The salt or sauce dish and spoon are both made from solid sterling silver and the dish is in the novelty form of a Viking long boat or ship that has been superbly embossed or raised relief decorated with shields, mythical beast heads and plank lines that gives the dish its long boat definition, the salt or sauce dish has been internally gilded or gold plated it is complete with its original internal blue glass liner, the dish and spoon have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and the back of the spoons handle has been impressed with the words Sterling -, the inside of the dishes lower body has also been impressed with the Norwegian 925S standard solid sterling silver mark along with the Bergen silversmith or makers mark of Theodor Olsens Eftf again as photographed below and I estimate that this novelty shape salt or sauce dish and spoon were made circa 1950\'s.

The condition is used and near Mint for its age.

The salt or sauce dish and spoon have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the decoration and definition are very crisp on both the dish and spoon, the gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear, the dish stands straight, the Norwegian silver and makers marks are still clearly legible, the internal glass liner is also in mint condition with no chips and no cracks although as this is a used vintage salt or sauce dish and spoon do have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this vintage Norwegian novelty shape dish and spoon can still be used on a dining table today for salt, mustard, mint or other sauces and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it looks absolutely fantastic considering that it\'s around 60 or so years old.
