Up for sale i have an antique Museum quality Norwegian bridal trunk dated 1835,it also has the intitials of the owner. This is an amazing piece and the quality of the Rosemaling is as good as it gets, the detail and flow of the floral patterns are just great,the trunk originates fromBø in Telemarkand what is considered the cradle of Rosemaling. It was painted by Svein Kaasa and this is very typicalof the Telemarkthis area, he is considered on of the best Telemark painters and the floral patterns are just amazing. In the book Norwegian Rosemaling by Nils Ellingsgaard there isphoto ofa chest painted by Svein Kaasa depicted on page 209, but this is a far better piece and should be in a museum.Thisthe best Telemarkbridal trunk i have ever offered to US customers. This is as good as any Telemark chests in museums in Norway or else in the world. This would be the star of any collection of Rosemaled antiques from Norway, Sweden or Denmark. This is a museum quality piece and i doubt US buyers will ever have a chanse to buy a gem like this in the future. The lid had at one time been overpainted and someone had tried to be a rosemaler, i had one of the top restorers in Norway remove this and the original paint was undamaged under the paint, it has been given a new varnish and it simply looks great. The metal work on this piece is also really good and the inside hinges has been heavily decorated by a highly skilled blacksmith.

The condition is really good with original lock and key fully functional,it has been cared for over the years and this was not the Bridal trunk of a poor girl, but someone who had the funds to pay for an item like this. Measures 36.2\"\" wide 21.7\" tall and 20.9\" deep so a nice sized trunk and easy to place, if you are to buy one Norwegian Folk Art item this is the one to have to display your Norwegian heritage.
