An amazing, highly detailed, handmade doll for the Native American or doll collector. I don\'t know the age of this beautiful grandmother doll, but she was very dusty and dirty when I found her at an estate sale in Arizona. I couldn\'t justify the high price being asked for her - but I found myself revisiting her over and over. She just wouldn\'t let me leave her there! And, she has captured the hearts of everyone I have shown her to since her arrival at my house! I have washed her little face and hands, and gotten her beautiful clothes all cleaned up for you.
This little lady did not come with a certificate of authenticity. I did extensive research to determine who her probable creator was. I came to the conclusion that she is (Almost without a doubt) a Rhonda Cacy original. Sadly, Ms. Cacy passed away too early in her short life. So, I was not able to speak directly to her. However, I was fortunate enough to speak to her sister who confirmed my belief that I had found one of her sisters creations. Rhonda made each of her dolls by hand. She sewed all of their clothes, carefully styled their hair, added authentic Navajo style jewelry. Since Rhonda was part American Indian it was very important to her that her creations reflected authentic dress and accessories. Please take time to examine the photos I have included. Even the mole on the side of her face has a little hair coming out of it! Absolutely NO detail was overlooked!
I was told that Rhonda\'s dolls originally sold for $4500+. Since her death the value should increase substantially. I am not as concerned about making money on this doll as I am concerned about placing her in a home where she will be loved and displayed with great pride.
Doll is 31\" long when she\'s laid out. She comes with a handmade wooden chair sized just for her. She wears handmade leather moccasins, burgundy colored pantaloons and slip. Her dress is made of soft, burgundy velvet. Dress and slip have tiny snap closures. Her little handkerchief is a cream colored linen with lace edging.
