A 100% original and super rare British Army Polish forces military helmet to a soldier in the 5th Kresowa Infantry Regiment. This regiment was raised in Russia at Tatishchevo and Jalalabad, by order of C-in-C Polish forces in the USSR, in August 1941, and named \"Kresowa\" by order of the Supreme Command and Minister of National Defence in June 1943. The Division trained in Paiforce (Palestine and Iraq Force) in Palestine. It landed in Italy in February 1944 and formed part of the 8th Army in the Italian Campaign. A brown bison (Zubr) on a yellow shield with a brown border was the Division\'s badge. The bison once common, but now almost extinct in Europe, was chosen as this beast lived in the Bialowieza Forest, in the National Park near Wilno, on the Eastern border of Poland. In excellent condition with just about all original paint finish remaining. Both hand-painted Polish eagle and bison badge in terrific shape. Would be very difficult to find a better example - this would be the prize item for any WW2 Polish militaria collection.
