ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN CIVIL WAR LETTER WITH PATRIOTIC ENVELOPE:
$51.00

Offered is an ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN LETTER from the Civil War,a long with the patriotic designed envelope it came in. The letter is signed by a John Hagar (if we\'re reading it correctly), Corporal in \"Nagle Light Infantry C.C.\" and is dated May 1. \'61 from \"Camp Curtin, Pa.\"  The stationery has a patriotic design in the upper left corner of the first page, consists of three sides and reads in part, \"...We got to the junction at noon where we got our grub and drinks after which we went to Sundsburg where... the ladies treated us to pie and boiled eggs..from there we come to Hallifax where we was treated again and the ladies sang the Star Spangled Banner. We gave them three hearty cheers...\" It goes on to speak of other goings on in and around the camp. It is accompanied by the ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE WITH DESIGN of the devil and (apparently) Jeff Davis with the caption \"The original suggestion and adoption of the Confederate Flag\". The envelope is worn and soiled and it appears that the stamp was cut away at some point.  The letter is generally clean, intact with some separation at the folds. . SEE THE SCANS AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING! Thanks for looking and good luck!
