A very nice Satanic dagger featuring a demon holding a dagger in a ritual stance.I believe this dates to the late 18th/early 19th century, as the leaf shaped blade, which is quite large, is very typical of the Napoleonic period and seldom found later. I\'m relatively certain this dagger is French. The leather is original and visibly old – still strong, through there are creases in the lacquer, as to be expected. I have seen a few of these over the years, but the casting on this one is finer, reinforcing the impression that this is an earlier example. Later daggers probably used secondary casting, leading to a loss of detail in the figure, but it is very finely cast here. It is about 37cm inside scabbard and 36cm outside scabbard.Shipping and handling within Australia will be $20 and to anywhere outside Australia $80. All my items are insured.
