Here is a lovely old Indonesian/Javanese golok, or short sword, from likely the early 20th century. A similar style sword can be found in Albert van Zonneveld\'s renowned book, Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago on pages 48-49, plates 115 and 117. This example is 24in. overall. with a heavy, thick 15in. blade. The blade has been engraved with designs in its fullers. The blade also features its Javanese maker\'s location with an abbreviation: Tijke, which is a shortened version of \"Tjikeroeh\", or the Indonesian \"Cikeruh\". The hilt is finely carved in a Makara monster motif in dark hardwood. The hilt looks to have been lacquered at some point in its life. The scabbard is beautifully carved as well in lighter colored wood with a dark wood mouth. One side of the scabbard is intricately carved and has a matching belt hook of carved dark hardwood.

Lovely, complete, example of a sword of this type and in excellent condition, which is not the norm when these are seen.
