Old Assyrian Divorce Contract - cuneiform clay tablet, hand written copy, signed:
$79.00

A hand-written copy of a divorce contract excavated in Kanesh in the 1920\'s by Prof. Bedřich Hrozný. The original tablet is deposited at Charles University\'s Faculty of Philosophy and Arts in Prague and dates back to 20th-18th century BC. It is not a cast, it is made the way copies were made in ancient Near East, i. e. written by hand, labeled \"copy\" and signed. The layout of the text is kept as on the original tablet. The tablet states that Harnasharna and Hanahana have been divorced and that neither of the divorced will come back to the other (with any claim); the one who does will be financially and physically punished. There is a colophon written on the left side of the tablet stating that this tablet is a copy made by me (as was the custom in the ancient Near East).Written in Old Assyrian, in an Old Assyrian cuneiform script, fired in a kiln (with wood).

Size: 4.6 x 4.2 x 1.9 cm = 1.8\'\' x 1.7\'\' x 0.7\'\' (width x height x thickness)

I will enclose a paper with transliteration, transcription, translation to English and information concerning the text, language, script etc.
