This sale is for an old Americanviolin, as pictured.
Description: This is a full-sizeviolin measuring about 231/2inches long overall, 14 1/8inches body length, and 81/4 inches wide at the widest point. Ebony fingerboard, spruce top; flamed maple neck, one-piece back and sides. The tips of the ebony pegs and end pinare inlaid withmatching mother-of-pearl dots. The scroll is carved with a striking figural human head.
Thelabel says \"MAED BY, HILMAR LEE. 1947.\" The person I got the violin from told me that Hilmar Lee was a Norwegian man who moved to Seattle, Washington.

Condition:This violin is in excellent near-mint condition.There is a small crack at the lower wing of the right F hole This is the only crack anywhere on the violin. There areno unglued seams. The sound post is standing up in position. The fingerboard was extended about 1/8 inch by adding a small piece of ebonyatits narrow end. There is a small amount of scratching in the varnish of the top, but almost no varnish scratching or wear in the varnish of the back, sides, edges and neck. There is no case or bow
To be made playable, this violin needs needs standard set up --bridge, strings, chinrest, tailpiece,etc.
This would make a goodset upproject for a luthier. Because it is sold as a project, there is no return option
