In theearly-mid 20th century Lissauer worked as an important Tribal art dealer,sourcing rare ethnographic material for collectors and museums around theworld. He documented and acquired 35,000 items for collectors in the northernhemisphere including the Rockefeller museum, the British Museum & the MuseeNational des Arts d\' Afrique et d\' Oceanie, now incorporated into the Louvre.

In thismodern age of tribal art collecting, an object\'s provenance is imperativelyconducive to aprospective good investment...andrare pieces, suchas this one of a kind ancestor figure from the Sepik delta (possiblyIatmul?) dating to the 1930\'s, is a must have fro a wisecollector/investor.......The figure\'s head is adorned with REAL HUMANHAIR.....and small cowrie shells, and its eyes inlaid with some other kind ofmarine shell (I\'m unsure about the species)......ALL NATURAL EARTH RED/YELLOWOCHRE pigments cover the entire body and its torso incised with geometricpatterns......A TRULY WONDERFUL AND IMPORTANT SPECIMEN!!
