For sale a very old Top Sepik wood Hook with an ancestorface carved on top. Note the usagewear near the pits and the fanastic patine! These type of hooks were hung from the rafters of the Papuan menshouse (strongly prohibitedfor women to enter!) and were used for hanging the netbags and sometimes also the freshly hunted heads when returning from a raid. The eyes are inset with nassa shells. Coming with the nice stand.Estimated 1870-1900 (or earlier).
