For sale a quite appealing nice size Vanuatu or New Hebrides splitdrum. This piece is just like the XL drums made from breadfruitwood and has a quite good patine (of being outside for a long time); perhaps there were also smaller drums used like these? Also the bottomend seems to be sawed off (as the big were stuck in the ground). The heads on top are also carved very well. I got this piece from Galery Lemaire here in Amsterdam (in livingarea) and might have been from Frits Lemaire. Estimated 1900-1930.
