This is a 10- leaf lot of earlyprinting from a Biblia latina. - Biblia cum summarioru(m) apparatupleno qaudrupliciq(ue) repertorio insignita. The principal leafis from The Second Book of Chronicles Chapters 2-5. Printed atLyon, by Jacques Mareschal for Simon Vincent in 1519. The leafmeasures 168x 120 mm. in totality and contains fifty-six linesof gothic type, printed double column in Latin. There are 8-linehistoriated letters located at the beginning of each chapter.During the Sixteenth Century, Lyon was the most important centerfor printing in France. Jacques (alias Roland) Mareschal (1475-1529)was a master printer, a "seller" by 1522, as well asa "courier" for the Co-Fraternity of the Printers, apowerful guild organization of the age. Aside from this St. JeromeBible, Mareschal was well known for his much-copied 1512 editionof the Bible as well as later versions in 1523, 1525 and 1526.Simon Vincent, one of three major publishers in Lyon at the time(along with Gueynard and Jacques Guinta), contracted with severalprinters simultaneously, Mareschal being one of them. Variationson the colophon might include the publisher\'s name or mark only,or both publisher and printer\'s name. Simon also published suchfamous works as Luis Coronel\'s "Physicae Perscrutationes"(1512), Coronel being a personal friend and supporter of Erasmus.The versocontains the same amount of lines, type & layout.
